Potential of new media advertising in India

There is a big hand of media in the promotion of the Indian market in recent times and it is due to the New Media, also known as Information and Computer technology, or the Internet. Internet has been a big factor for the promotion of services offered, and provides both the companies and the ultimate consumer a great tool for the sale and purchase of their desired products and services.

Studies have revealed that there are as over 30 million Internet users in India alone and the large proportion of the users are in the age group of 20-40 years, which are the target audience with most of the buying capacity in any economy. According to a recent MSN study, the online segment in India is likely to cross the 100-million dollar mark by the end of 2010. The advertising industry in India is expected to generate approximately 2.2 billion dollars yearly as per the industry sources.

India has been a standalone force in the field of information and computer technology due to its high skilled labour in addition to the research and development techniques. The same has also been benefited by the liberalized policies of the Indian government. Recently, Indian companies have been conferred with several contracts from all over the globe and that has been a key feature in marking and applauding the success and skilled experience of the Indian advertising community.

Internet can be used in different terms. This is purely company-specific and not overall-specific. What may be best to one company may not be suited to its peers. This also depends upon the size, type and policies of the company in addition to the consumer’s behaviour and taste patterns. It can be through the use of online brochures, product launch advertising on websites and a more responsive questionnaire format for the prospective consumers. It surely acts as an economical, easy-to-use and maintain, and a far reliable and interactive tool between the company and its audience.

The scenario of the internet advertising in India has changed quite astonishingly. Since its inception this has seen tremendous growth, approval and implementation. Many companies are nowadays switching over to this new kind of media that is likely to come up more good in the coming future. Several of the new corporate giants in the area of the Internet economy are found to be either Indian or of the Indian origin. And with the due support of the Indian government and many more foreign alliance expected to come up, this Industry is bound to make a name for it.
